Major Caine entered the Service in November 1813, was employed in the Nepaul War of 1814 and 1815, and in action with the enemy at Seetapore on the 31st January 1815, when in the Light Company of 17th Regiment, was
# Fort, was in the War of the Deccan in 1817 and 1818, and engaged with the enemy at Shubbulpoor on the 19th December 1817, when he planted the Regimental Colour of his Regiment, and destroyed in single Combat the Arab Chief Commanding the enemy at the Mussulman Saints Tomb at Shubbulpoor. He was present during the Siege of Bhurtpore where he volunteered the Forlorn Hope, and was wounded in the Assault whilst carrying the enemy's colours. Major Caine had the good fortune to destroy one of the Enemy on this occasion.
